How far in advance should I book you?
Please contact me right away to reserve your desired date. Bookings fill up quickly and are often scheduled several months in advance. I never book more than two photo shoots per day — either just after sunrise or just before sunset — which allows me to photograph you in the most beautiful natural light.
How do your portrait sessions work?
I love to tell the story of you, your friends or your family in a unique, creative way. At our first meeting, I’ll ask you imagine what a perfect day would look like to you. What would you do? Where would you go? What would you bring? How would you get there? What would you eat? I want you to look back at these photographs and smile, remembering the fun day you had together.
It’s raining! My kid has chickenpox! Can we reschedule?
Life happens. If our shoot was planned for a beautiful outdoor location and Mother Nature has other ideas, we will try again another day. If you or your kids aren’t feeling well, it’s best to reschedule. We want everyone feeling his or her best during your session.
How many images will you shoot for my session?
As many images as it takes! It’s important for me to capture a wonderful variety of poses and expressions. I like having the freedom to give you the images you envisioned, plus some playful, loose and fun variations.
What sort of equipment and software do you use?
Your portraits will be captured as digital RAW files, using professional-grade Canon equipment, and edited in Adobe Photoshop. I was trained shooting large-format film cameras, but I’ve since switched to a digital system. My primary camera is a Canon EOS Mark III, which produces extremely high quality images and allows for large prints. I have a wide range of lenses, lighting, and other tools that allow me to capture the perfect photo.
Do you offer prints, framing, photo books?
Additional prints, custom sizes, photo books and many other products are available. Please call or email and I’ll send over our Product Book. I’m happy to show you samples and discuss custom options. You may want a gallery wall with multiple images, gift-sized portraits or a large print for your living room. The possibilities are endless! I want you to be thrilled with your portraits, so I only work with the highest quality materials, labs, printers and framers.
Do you offer announcements?
Yes, and we love to do this! We can help create birth announcements, engagement announcements, holiday cards, birthday cards or anything you can throw at us. We’ll show you a few options, make final adjustments and order for you. We will ensure that you have an announcement card you, your family and friends will all love!
Can I have all the images from the session?
Portrait Packages include a download of all edited files. Outtakes, or images that were not selected for editing, are not included. Those images are often redundant or flawed (Dad sneezed!) so I skip editing those files to keep costs down for my clients. If you require all the photos from your session or want to purchase higher resolution files, contact me to discuss additional costs.
What if I lose my files, or I want to order prints years from now?
All image files (including negatives and edited files) are backed-up to multiple on and off-site locations, using top-quality storage devices. At any time, you can purchase additional files, prints, or other products.
Can you help with hair/make-up?
Absolutely! We love to do this, and it really adds something special to your session. We can arrange for styling, hair, make-up, props... anything you need!
